Whether you want a tropical kayaking vacation or a tropical rafting vacation, Small World Adventures is hands down the best choice in outfitters in Ecuador. Small World Adventures helped pioneer whitewater kayaking in Ecuador in the early 1990’s, and our sense of adventure still flourishes as we are constantly exploring new runs in this magnificent country. SWA was created in 1993, and since then, our guides have been spending 4-6 months each winter down in Ecuador guiding our old favorites and exploring for new runs. The time we spend in Ecuador, and our commitment to just one country, has given us an important edge—extremely intimate knowledge of Ecuador and its whitewater. We use our 18 years of experience and our knowledge of over 40 different kayaking runs to offer you the absolute best paddling we can pack into one week. Beside the fact that we have added 1-5 new runs each year, we also continue to add side hikes, cultural excursions, and other off-river activities to our tours to give you the maximum Ecuador experience. Take advantage of our vast experience and knowledge, our riverside lodge, kayak fleet, and our connections within Ecuador to get the most out of your vacation.
We are SMALL World Adventures for a reason; we specialize in small groups, and give paddlers an intimate experience tailored to each individual’s needs in order to ensure you are getting the best whitewater trip available. Our fun and innovative approach to kayak guiding is geared towards providing you with an unforgettable paddling vacation. Isn’t it time to kayak South America and enjoy some tropical whitewater?
To ensure the best possible experience for our guests, Small World Adventures built an exclusive riverside lodge in the Quijos Valley—an area that is well endowed with world-class whitewater, but is seriously lacking in quality accommodations. We know you will paddle at your best if you have a good night’s sleep and eat healthy, home cooked meals. We try to take as much stress as possible out of your traveling experience (stress meaning barking dogs and loud roosters keeping you up at night, and low quality food leaving you wishing you had brought more power bars) so you can focus on your kayaking. Don’t worry, there is still plenty of adventure left in traveling around Ecuador, we won’t insulate you from the experience of it all, we just want you to eat and sleep well while on your adventure! We also have the largest and most up to date kayak fleet in the country—and probably in all of South America. We have the newest creek boats, play boats, and river runners so you’ll always have the appropriate boat for the kind of kayaking you are doing.
We all fell in love with Ecuador (both for its culture and its whitewater) and we think you will love it too. There is an amazing variety of whitewater packed into a small area, which means lots of river time and minimal driving time for paddlers. In addition, Ecuador boasts one of the warmest cultures on earth. We've never met such friendly people from a variety of different backgrounds. We hope that someday you will be able to experience Ecuador--it's something everyone should do.
