SWA Lodge - Cabanas Tres Rios Now
open year around for groups and individuals.

Hand in hand with our goal to create the best guided kayak trips anywhere
is having a best riverside lodge in the tropics. Building our beautiful,
secluded Cabanas Tres Rios has more than fulfilled that goal. Its central
location in the Quijos valley provides unparalleled river access enabling
us to put in or take out on four different runs directly in front of our
lodge. Each spacious room has a private bathroom with unlimited hot water
showers as well as a patio with hammocks and gear drying area. The main
lodge has our dining room, bar, living room and patio to enjoy happy hour
on. We also have incorporated a storage area for our 60 kayaks, outfitting
area and massage room in our central bodega. We recently completed a beautiful
choza overlooking the river. This bamboo deck with thatched roof is a
great place to practice yoga, study Spanish, enjoy a cold drink or read
in a hammock. To accommodate kayaks and rafts we have two trailers for
shuttles and are building a ramp to transport our rafts to and from the
river. All of this is set into a beautiful flower filled garden.
Beginning in October of 2006 we will be offering one on one or group
Spanish classes in this beautiful setting. |

Most importantly is the relaxed mood at the cabins. Many guests say
that it doesn't feel like a hotel but more like staying at a beautiful
home with friends, except of course, there are full services. But then
others believe that the best thing by far is Maria's and Lilly's excellent
Ecuadorian, international and vegetarian meals. Due to popular requests
they soon plan to offer a Cabanas Tres Rios cookbook.
Be assured that this is not just a kayaker's bunkhouse; it is quality
lodging and meals where SWA whitewater guests stay while on our trips
as well where birders, schools and other adventure travelers visit and
stay year around. It is a great place to enjoy a small conference or family
get together. Besides rafting and kayaking, great hiking, mountain biking,
horseback riding, birding and relaxing in the gardens are all available.
We can arrange Spanish classes or specialty tours to the local scenic
highlights in the three nearby nature preserves. We are only an hour and
a half to Cascada San Rafael, the largest waterfall in Ecuador. Our capacity
is 18 people based on double occupancy. Please contact us if you have
non kayak groups who wish to join us to explore the fascinating Oriente.
